Portugal Resident is one of the leading English-language online newspapers in Portugal, with a strong focus on the Algarve region. With decades of history, it serves as a trusted news source for the foreign community living or traveling in Portugal. Covering national and local current affairs, tourism, lifestyle, and events, Portugal Resident plays a vital role in keeping expatriates connected to the country, offering relevant and reliable information in English for an international audience.
We were invited to lead the digital transformation of Portugal Resident, with a focus on modernising the website both visually and technically, while also optimising content structure and editorial strategy for international audiences. The goal was to improve speed, usability, and content accessibility, and to provide the editorial team with a more powerful yet flexible platform.
The project was developed using WordPress with the GeneratePress theme and Gutenberg editor, allowing for faster loading times, a cleaner codebase, and full editorial autonomy.
